Mike Tyson Says Boxing Needs Jake Paul, but Does It?

The inception of Jake Paul in professional boxing has garnered different opinions from the combat world. While many have ridiculed him, umpteen boxers have favored the notion of seeing ‘The Problem Child’ in action. It includes former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, who has backed Jake Paul throughout.

Despite being a pro boxer himself, Tyson revealed how modern-day boxing has taken a back seat. ‘Iron’ Mike shed these opinions while having a modern-day elite Shakur Stevenson beside him in the ‘Hotboxin’ podcast. Former UFC two-division champion Henry Cejudo was also present.

Tyson bashed the current champions for not fighting each other and expressed his views.

“The real mother f**** they don’t wanna fight each other. That’s why those guys like Jake Paul. This little Jake Paul on my show, the know what I got 75 million viewers. The champions don’t fight champions. So he is good for boxing,” said Mike Tyson.

However, not many might agree to it. Boxing has a deep roster and there are several blockbuster fights aligned. Many of them have faded away with time, but the fight between Terence Crawford vs Errol Spence Jr. was arguably the most awaited contest. That said, it is also nowhere close to being sealed officially.

While it’s just one instance, it also paved the path for the octuple champion Manny Pacquiao to dive in. The heavyweight division is similarly locked in for a showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Hence boxing fans can opt for real fights any day. So, not everyone prefers to see Jake Paul in the ring.

Jake Paul – A whole different side

Unlike Tyson, Canelo Alvarez suggested Jake Paul and Logan Paul step away from the boxing glory, In an interaction with Graham Bensinger, the P4P king addressed several ongoing issues in his career. Meanwhile, he also reflected opinion on ‘The Problem Child’ and passed some scratchy advice.

“They could get them killed. This is not a soccer game, they could get them killed,” said Alvarez. (H/T- Sky Sports)

He added, “Why do they give licences to people who have never in their life even thrown a punch? If there’s a death, the commission will be responsible. Why? Because they issued the licence for the fight.”

Nevertheless, Paul is 3-0 in boxing and is aiming for a bigger fight next. Adding to that, Logan Paul, 0-1 as a pro, will fight Floyd Mayweather on June 6. Hence, they are making big moves in the sport and are clearly grabbing a lot of attention.

So you think Jake Paul should continue fighting?
