Prince Harry ‘made no progress’ over Meghan Markle and Archie race row with William and Charles after Philip’s funeral

PRINCE Harry didn’t “make any progress” on the race row with Prince William and Charles after his grandfather’s funeral.

Palace insiders revealed “little was resolved about the race row”, which came out in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s explosive Oprah interview.

Harry and wife Meghan made claims a member of the Royal Family had questioned the colour of Archie’s skin before he was born.

At the time Buckingham Palace said the Sussexes’ comments would be “taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”

But despite Harry’s recent visit to the UK for Prince Phillip’s funeral, palace insiders say, “little was resolved about the race row”.

Sources say Harry did not “make any progress” regarding the allegations when he was back.

However, Meghan’s biographer admitted she may have been wrong about royal protocol for Archie’s title.

The author of Finding Freedom, Omid Scobie, has said the Duchess of Sussex may have misinterpreted protocol during the tell-all interview, which aired in March.

In the CBS chat, Meghan alleged her son Archie was not made a prince due to a change in protocol – implying that he was being treated differently.

‘NO PROGRESS’

But the Duchess appeared to have misunderstood that the George V convention only grants the use of HRH titles to children and grandchildren of the monarch – and the eldest grandson of the Prince of Wales.

And Omid Scobie said: “If we are only going by what Meghan said to Oprah and what the palace have said so far about the situation with Archie, perhaps one can assume that Meghan was wrong in her interpretation of it.

The Duke Of Sussex did spend time with his brother William and father Charles during the fleeting visit last month.

But, the source said the trio looked to mend the rift between them rather than dive into the details of the fallout.

“Harry, William and Charles focused on reaching some form of peace and stability within the family moving forward,” the source said.

“The conversations were focused less on what has happened and what was said with Oprah, and more on how to move forward as a family. And that is not an easy path, it requires time and understanding.

“Charles felt aggrieved at how the family’s personal affairs and family dramas were expressed in such an ‘insensitive’ way.

“Harry stands by his words and stands by his wife regarding the way they chose to express ‘their truth’.

“Certainly Charles and William will not delve into these matters publicly.

“There is a feeling that any actions raised by Meghan and Harry’s claims will only ever remain behind palace doors.”

‘TAKEN VERY SERIOUSLY’

Last month the Sussexes made headlines around the world with their CBS primetime Oprah Winfrey interview.

Meghan said: “In the months when I was pregnant… we have in tandem the conversation of he won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title, and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”

The interview prompted Buckingham Palace to make a public statement less than 48 hours after the TV chat, admitting the allegations were “concerning” and would be addressed privately by the royal family.

The statement issued on behalf of the Queen said: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”

Last month reports claimed that Charles and William preferred to meet with the Duke of Sussex face-to-face so nobody’s words could be misconstrued afterwards.

That meeting came after the royal brothers had taken “baby steps” towards healing their fraught relationship while walking back to the Queen’s home from St George’s Chapel.

Harry stayed at Frogmore Cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle during his stay and saw a number of family members including Princess Eugenie and her newborn son.

Scobie reported that while no plans have been officially confirmed, the Duke is expected to come back to the UK in July for the unveiling of a statue of his late mother, Princess Diana.

He is thought to be planning to join the Duke of Cambridge for a ceremony at Kensington Palace.

The Sun Online has approached Buckingham Palace and Prince Harry’s representatives for comment.
