Browns Recruit Grew Newsome II Looking to ‘Bridge Cleveland Locker Room Together’
Cleveland Browns managed to bolster their defense by drafting Northwestern’s Greg Newsome II in the 2021 NFL Draft. The 20-year old starlet was drafted in the 1st round (26th overall) by Kevin Stefanski and the Browns. He made a name for himself in high school playing for Glenbard North in Illinois.
Since joining NWU in 2018, Newsome has been a consistent performer in the Big Ten college football circuit. In 17 games, Newsome registered 71 tackles and 1 interception. Greg was the 4th quarterback to be taken in 2021 and will be expected to challenge for a starting berth in the coming months.

“I’m a versatile player. I can do it all on the field. Then to that locker room, I’m a cool guy to be around. A guy that will bridge this locker room together,” Newsome said via NFL Network’s Will Selva.
“He fits what we are. He fits how we play. He fits our style.” @Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski says @gnewsii was the top player on their draft board.
