Instagram now lets you add captions to Stories that turns your words into text

You can now easily add captions to your Instagram Stories.

All you need to do is click a special captions sticker that you can find when you’re editing a Story.

Instagram tweeted: “Now you can add a captions sticker in Stories (coming soon to Reels) that automatically turns what you say into text.

“We’re starting in a handful of countries and hope to expand soon.”

Avid Instagram users may know a captions feature was already live on  IGTV app.

The tech platform hopes the extra captions feature will make Instagram more accessible.

Watching Instagram Stories with the sound off is actually a preferred method for many users.

It could also make a big difference to users who have impaired hearing.

The feature is currently only available in English and in English-speaking countries but Instagram hopes to build on this.

If you can’t see it on your app yet you may need to update or wait a while longer.

How to put captions on Instagram Stories

You first need to record a video using the Stories/Reels Camera or select a video you’ve already recorded that’s in your gallery.

Swipe up to open the sticker tray and select the ‘Captions’ sticker.

You should then see that the speech on your video is being converted into text on the screen.

You can edit the position of the text as well as any spelling mistakes and the overall style.

Then you just need to click post.
