Raye reveals collabs with Lewis Capaldi and Rag’n’Bone Man as she teases ‘visceral’ album
Raye has snagged Lewis Capaldi, Tom Walker and Rag’n’Bone Man for duets having previously steered clear of men in the music business.
The Bed singer has flown in from LA to see if she can scoop best single at the Brits for Secrets, her collab with Regard.
Raye, 23, told Guilty Pleasures: ‘I’ve been writing with Lewis Capaldi and I’m going to be doing stuff with Tom Walker and Rag’n’Bone Man.
‘I’m going to try and do stuff with the guys. I’ve definitely been holding it down writing with the girls, but I’m ready to start exploring some new perspectives.’
Explaining why she has given music’s fellas a wide berth, she went on: ‘My little sisters are starting careers in this industry and I’m worried for them and want to make sure they have chaperones and are safe. I myself have way too many unfortunate stories that I’ve had to put up with as a woman.
‘I now only work with people I trust and I know or I have a girl with me, someone with me, or I’m not interested.’
Her experiences are going into her new album. Raye explained: ‘I’m aware that these conversations are boring to a lot of people, “You’re a woman, you’re an artist, shut up!”
‘I’m making an album and I’ve got some music on there that’s very personal and very visceral.
‘Even my label’s like, “Are you sure these are things you want to be saying?” I’m going to do it the only way I know how, and that’s through music.’
But first she is going to get mashed at next week’s Brits.
‘I don’t know what it’s going to be like, what restrictions are in place and what the vibe’s going to be,’ Raye said.
‘I think everyone’s going to go for it this year. It’s been 17 months of prison so yeah, I’m going to rage!’
Telly request that made Olly crotch-ety
Olly Alexander was once asked to change the trousers he was wearing for a TV show because bosses thought they were sinful.
Explaining why he goes out of his way to be visibly gay, the It’s A Sin star told Cosmopolitan UK: ‘There have been questions from people (not on my team) going, “That might not be appropriate”.
‘I was wearing a pair of chevron trousers on a TV show. In rehearsals, a comment came back saying, “We think the chevrons are highlighting Olly’s crotch. Does he have a different pair?”
‘We blew up and they backed down. The chevrons went on TV and nobody said a f***ing thing.’
Olly, 30, told Cosmopolitan: ‘It makes me angry. I’m a gay guy and I want people to know that, but it’s interesting to see how quickly people become uncomfortable when you want to assert your own sexuality.’
He is also impressed by Harry Styles’s eccentric fashion muscle, saying: ‘Gender-fluid fashion has been around forever, but seeing it in a more mainstream context is cool.’

Royal Blood’s Mike Kerr had to relearn how to speak after blaming a booze problem for leaving him like an ‘obliterated house’.
The Trouble’s Coming rocker said: ‘I had to relearn how to go to sleep, how to talk to people. Sobriety is day one of cleaning a house that’s been obliterated.’
However, his success provided fodder for the duo’s new album Typhoons. Mike, 30, told Apple Music 1: ‘But when you see things start to turn around, that’s when you realise this is worth it.
‘For me it took the validation of certain songs, Typhoons is the moment where I was like, OK, this is going to be all right.’
