All the Leaks and Rumors Surrounding Call of Duty 2021

Call of Duty 2020, or Black Ops Cold War has been a tremendous success among the fans of the franchise. The campaign mode, multiplayer, and the Zombies’ experience, combined, have helped the game become popular. While Treyarch Studios deserves a pat on its back for delivering such an amazing experience, it wasn’t the studio Activision initially chose.

Originally, Sledgehammer Games was in charge of developing Black Ops Cold War. However, due to some issues within the studio, Activision dropped them and went ahead with Treyarch. Now, SHG has gone through a complete restructuring and hired multiple new staff, making it fully capable of developing Call of Duty 2021.

With SHG at the helm of the next COD title, fans have already started digging for leaks. Everyone is curious to know how Call of Duty 2021 is going to be different than the previous editions of the franchise. Therefore, due to the efforts of some of these internet sleuths, we have a decent amount of leaks and rumors.

Call of Duty 2021: A game only for new-gen consoles?

Previously, according to multiple leaks, it seems like the working and even the final title of the game will be Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard. However, a title isn’t all fans know about the game. During a recent Activision sales call, one of the executives mentioned the studio will be focusing on the new-gen consoles.

The call gave rise to many rumors that Call of Duty 2021 is not going to have a PS4 and Xbox One release. Instead, it will release only on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and high-end PCs. The news upset many fans looking forward to the title. Fortunately, popular industry insider Tom Henderson came to their rescue.

Tom revealed that the game will definitely have a PS4 and an Xbox One release. However, whether the developers decide to make it a full release or leave out some content on the older consoles is still uncertain.

The future of Zombies: An F2P Outbreak?

One of the popular leaks surrounding COD 2021 is the arrival of a co-op mode. As seen in the case of previous titles with a similar announcement, it usually turns out to be a Zombies’ experience. Moreover, with the success of the mode in Cold War, it only makes sense to include it in the new title.

Similarly, the Outbreak mode has also been a massive hit. Hence, there have been rumors that Activision might go for a F2P title. An Outbreak standalone following in the footsteps of Call of Duty: Warzone is definitely something fans would love to see.

With all this being said, Activision is attending the virtual E3 2021 in June. Therefore, it might be the perfect opportunity to reveal more about the upcoming title. Additionally, the developers could also use the platform to announce the launch date for the title. Hopefully, fans at least get a cinematic trailer for COD 2021 in June.
