Ant and Dec have mocked Piers Morgan’s exit from Good Morning Britain after suggesting he could star on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! this year as he’s ‘looking for a job’.
The pair spoke about the upcoming series of the ITV reality show and joked that Piers could finally sign up as he’s ‘not working at the moment’.
Piers left GMB after six years as a co-presenter on the ITV programme earlier this year following a media storm.
His exit came after a record number of people complained to Ofcom about his remarks regarding Meghan Markle, following her groundbreaking interview alongside Prince Harry with media mogul Oprah Winfrey.
Speaking on Lorraine, Ant suggested that now could be the ideal time to sign him up to the series.
‘You’ve always said you’d quite like to have Piers Morgan in there. Is that still the case?’ presenter Lorraine Kelly asked.
‘Well he’s not working at the moment, so he’ll be looking for a job,’ Ant joked.
‘He’s got a bit of time on his hands. I think he’d be absolutely amazing. It would be quite interesting that’s to say the least,’ Lorraine added.
ITV bosses might have a big job on her hands if they’re to convince Piers to take part – and the fee could be a sticking point.
Last year a fan asked Piers on Twitter: ‘What would it take for you to go on to I’m A Celeb? Because I would love to see you go on.’
He replied: ‘£10million.’
Meanwhile, ITV has confirmed that I’m A Celeb will return to Australia in 2021 ‘if possible’ following a series in Wales due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ant and Dec, though, said that the location of this year’s series is still yet to be confirmed.
I’m A Celebrity set up shop in Gwyrch Castle, North Wales, for the first ever series not to take place in the Australian jungle in 2020.
Lorraine airs on weekdays at 9am on ITV.
