Below Deck Mediterranean’s Hannah Ferrier defended by Bugsy Drake over Captain Sandy comments
Below Deck Mediterranean star Hannah Ferrier has been defended by former co-star Bugsy Drake amid her feud with Captain Sandy Yawn.
Viewers have seen the pair come to blows on the boat-based reality series, with tensions coming to a head in season five when Sandy fired Hannah over a drug-related drama.
The drama went overboard when the Captain took aim at the chief stewardess’ professionalism in a recent interview, stating that she just ‘waits tables’.
Chatting to Us Weekly, Bugsy – who has had her own issues with Hannah in the past – confessed she was left unimpressed with the comments.
‘I can understand the backlash of like where Hannah stands in terms of saying that she just waits tables. Like I don’t agree with that comment because a chief stewardess goes above and beyond like just waiting tables,’ she said.
‘They oversee the entire guest experience, although they’re not driving the yacht, they set up the itinerary, they make sure that their stay on board is just high end and top-notch, they set tables, they wait tables, they look after the crew.
‘I always say the chief stew is like the mother of a yacht. So I don’t think that Hannah just waits tables is a fair comment, but it’s maybe the way that a lot of people might perceive it.’
Sandy caused controversy when she let Hannah go midway through series five, just moments before new guests were due to come on board.
At the time, she cited an issue with drugs, after Bosun Malia White sent her a picture showing a prescription box of Valium, a THC pen and a personalised passport holder from the cabin they previously shared.
Hannah later offered up a prescription for the valium, and explained the CBD oil in the pen is legal in Spain, where the series was filmed.
Many Below Deck stars came out in support of Hannah over her axe, including Eddie Lucas and Captain Lee Rosbach, who blasted the decision.
Captain Sandy spoke out over the exit last month, blasting her work ethic as one of the reasons she decided to sack her.
‘I fired Hannah because I don’t trust her as a crew member on board at all, that’s why I fired her,’ she said. ‘I’m a captain and she waits tables. There’s no equal there professionally.
‘I think that’s the part that I think really disturbs her, is her ego. It’s sad. I feel for her, this girl still hanging onto that s**t I haven’t thought about until you asked me about it.
‘She’s starting a family, like I don’t get it. I don’t hate Hannah and never have. I wish her well.’
