Call My Agent! lands UK remake as Jim Broadbent joins star-studded cast
Call My Agent! has landed its very own UK remake with Oscar-winning actor Jim Broadbent joining a star-studded cast.
According to reports, the adaptation will hold onto the essence of the French series which follows Parisian talent firm A.S.K agents as they scramble to keep their star clients happy and their business afloat.
However, Deadline claims the re-creation, from W1A’s John Morton, will integrate ‘British sensibility and introduce some new storylines’.
Also starring in Call My Agent! UK’s version will be Tony-nominated actress Lydia Leonard as Alexa, in a role loosely based on Camille Cottin’s Andréa Martel.
It’s also been revealed that Pirates Of The Caribbean star Jack Davenport will play Jonathan, which is roughly akin to the character Mathias Barneville.
Elsewhere, Chewing Gum’s Maggie Steed has been cast as Stella, Prasanna Puwanarajah will portray Dan, The King’s Harry Trevaldwyn will take on the role of Ollie and Killing Eve’s Hiftu Quasem will play Misha.
The publication reports that a number of huge British and American celebs have been lined up to make guest appearances.
Teasing what’s in store, exec producer Christian Baute said: ‘Bad behaviour is implicit in the show but not an explicit storyline.
‘We see human beings, not only mean executives. It’s in the background, but not the focus of our story.’
President of Bron Television David Davoli added: ‘There is a whimsical nature to John’s writing and an authenticity to his characters that is sure to resonate with audiences around the world.
‘It is because of John’s writing that we have attracted such strong talent in front of and behind the camera.’
Call My Agent! is available to stream on Netflix.
