Canelo Alvarez Knockout Percentage: Is He a Finisher?

Canelo Alvarez is one of the best active boxers in the world. His incredible achievements in the ring have put him at the top of the P4P list. As he prepares for yet another tough test against Billy Joe Saunders, we look at his knockout power and see if he is a finisher.

Alvarez will face Saunders in a highly anticipated bout on May 8. The pair will finally meet after years of rumors linking the two. And somewhat surprisingly, Alvarez has promised to knockout Saunders. So does the Mexican champion have what it takes to be a knockout artist?

Alvarez has an incredible boxing record of 55-1-2. Out of these 55 victories, 37 have come by knockout. This gives the Mexican a respectable 63% knockout rate. However, what is more impressive is that 24 of these knockouts have come within the first half of his fights.

This shows that Alvarez has incredible power and can hurt his opponents. Moreover, his style of fighting shows that once he has an opponent hurt, he steps on it to get the finish. This shows that, while the Mexican may not be a one-punch knockout artist, Alvarez is certainly a finisher.

Can Canelo Alvarez finish Billy Joe Saunders?

The Mexican superstar will have another opportunity to prove his power on Saturday against undefeated Saunders. So can he be the first one to beat Saunders and do it by knockout?

Saunders is a slick fighter who is famous for his incredible movement and unique style. The Englishman comes from the proud gypsy heritage and has been a fighter his entire life. Therefore, it will be difficult for Alvarez to finish Saunders, who will never quit.

The Mexican struggled to knockout Callum Smith when they met in December. And Saunders will be much faster and lighter on his feet than his compatriot. Therefore, it will take an incredible effort from Alvarez if he is to get the knockout victory.

Thus, although Alvarez is a finisher in the ring, he may struggle to knock out Billy Joe Saunders on Saturday night.
