Emily Atack takes savage swipe at Jimmy Carr’s tax avoidance to his face and he handles it well
Emily Atack took a wince-inducing swipe at Jimmy Carr’s years-old tax avoidance when the pair appeared on Celebrity Juice.
The comedian made headlines in 2012 due to the very public outing of his finances which revealed him to be part of the – legal – K2 scheme, which he used to pay just one per cent income tax.
The scandal came back to haunt him on Thursday’s episode of the Keith Lemon-fronted game show in the final round.
Guests, which also included Eamonn Holmes and Maya Jama were shown a picture of Jimmy on the phone wearing a racing suit.
Host Keith asked the contestants to guess who he was on the phone to, which is when the Inbetweeners star aimed and fired.
‘Definitely not the taxman,’ Emily quipped.
Just as speedily, the comedian replied: ‘It could be the tax man because I’m dressed as if I’m gonna take part in some sort of getaway.’
Maya added: ‘I was gonna say that is very snug’, referring to his outfit.
The Your Face Or Mine host was famously mocked by his 8 Out Of 10 Cats co-stars at the time his connection to the scheme was made public with panellist Sean Lock saying at the time: ‘We all like to put a bit of money away for a rainy day don’t we? But I think you’re more prepared than Noah.’
Jimmy apologised at the time saying he had ‘made a terrible error of judgement’.
Celebrity Juice airs Thursdays at 10pm on ITV2.
