Courteney Cox says filming the Friends reunion special was an ‘unbelievable experience that left her feeling ‘so emotional’.

The long-awaited event – which saw the entire cast reunite for the first time in years – finally took place in April and the Cougar Town alum said it was as great as we hoped it would be.

Speaking to Thursday’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Courteney stated: ‘It was so unbelievable, so emotional. It’s an unscripted reunion and we got to be on Stage 24 for the first time all of us in, I forget how many years. 15 years? 17 years?

‘It was great. It was really fun. We had a lot of special surprises – and it was fantastic. It really was.’

The unscripted TV special won’t see Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, and Courteney reprise their characters but fans still can’t wait to see the gang back together either reuniting on screen.

After lengthy delays, the cast wrapped production for the HBO Max special last month – which will air 17 years after the finale aired.

The gang – who played Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Joey and Chandler on the sitcom – haven’t been on screen as a sextet since the final episode in 2004.

David Schwimmer explained more about the special on The Graham Norton Show as he said: ‘I’ll be David. Nothing is scripted and we are not in character.

‘We are all ourselves, although there is one section of it that I don’t want to give away, but we all read something.’

The Friends Reunion will air on HBO Max in the US.
