Little Mix’s Jade Thirwall was briefly replaced during the band’s interview on BBC Breakfast today because even one year into Zoom calls, they’re still a battle.

The three-piece were interviewed by sports reporter Sally Nugent and business reporter Ben Thompson about their new single Confetti, the first without band member Jesy Nelson who quit the band in December.

And all was going swimmingly until for a brief moment, Jade was replaced by unaware mathematician Bobby Seagull.

As the interview closed, Sally said to viewers: ‘I don’t know if any of you noticed, but for a short time there Little Mix did have a new member.

‘Did you notice that? Mr Bobby Seagull popped up at one point in the middle of Little Mix.’

Co-host Ben asked: ‘Bobby, how much would you love to be the latest member of Little Mix’, to which Bobby replied: ‘Bring in someone who loves numbers as well… Little Mix, I’m here!’

It’s been a big week for Little Mix members – both past and present.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock announced she is welcoming her first child with fiancé Andrew Gray in an Instagram post giving Beyonce a run for her money when it comes to extra baby announcements.

She wrote in the caption: ‘We’ve dreamed about this moment for so long and we can’t believe the dream is finally coming true… we can’t wait to meet you. ❤️😍.’

And just a day later, Jesy gave her first interview since leaving the band, revealing the moment she knew hers days in Little Mix were up after suffering a panic attack on the set of their recent music video Sweet Melody.

‘I’d been in lockdown, and I’d put on a bit of weight but I didn’t care,’ Jesy told Cosmopolitan magazine. ‘And they said, “You’ve got a music video in a couple of weeks” and I just panicked. I went on this extreme diet, with bloody shakes, and tried to eat as little as possible.

‘On the day of the Sweet Melody video I had a panic attack on set because I didn’t look how I wanted to look and I found it so hard to just be happy.’

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
