Mark Wahlberg is eating 7,000 calories a day – including a dozen eggs – to gain 30lbs to play a priest

Mark Wahlberg is eating a whopping 7,000 calories a day to gain 30lb for a movie – but he doesn’t even get to eat ice-cream and pizza.

Where’s the fun in that? 

The 49-year-old has already gained 20lb in his quest to put on 30lb in six weeks to play a boxer turned priest in Father Stu. 

His personal chef Lawrence Duran has now revealed that Mark is eating 7,000 calories a day to achieve his goal – that’s three times the calories eaten by the average person in a day, and the equivalent of eating 13 Big Macs.

But Big Macs are off the menu, as Mark’s mega-calorie diet is actually very strict. 

Duran told E! Online that the actor is eating every three hours, eating at least 12 eggs, steak, meatloaf, fish, rice and a half a roast chicken to hit his calorie goal.

He said: ‘His first breakfast is four eggs—that’s the pre-breakfast. Then, he does his workout and then after the workout, which is usually around 5 to 6 o’clock in the morning, we do eight eggs, six strips of bacon, a cup of rice, two tablespoons of olive oil and a protein shake. It’s his protein-inspired mass weight-gainer to help build on a little more muscle as well.

‘Then, three hours later, we do some kind of ground beef or ground turkey, whether it’s been made into a hamburger patty or a meatloaf, with another cup of rice. And then, three hours later, I usually do half of a roasted chicken, another cup of rice, I’ll do about a cup of cooked spinach and a cup of cooked beets as well.’

After two, essentially, main courses, Mark will tuck into an eight-ounce veal or pork chop and a four-ounce piece of salmon with rice and beets, before his last big meal consisting of ‘eight ounces of some type of steak, eight ounces of some kind of white fish, like a sea bass or a halibut, and load up on tons of vegetables’.

That’s not the end of Mark’s day, though, as he, er, enjoys a ‘nightcap’ of a ‘mash’ consisting of oatmeal, apple sauce, jam, almond butter and molasses, as a ‘mass gainer to put on weight during his sleep’.

The Boogie Nights star then gets a cheat day over the weekend where he can treat himself to pizza, cookies and ice-cream – although after the week he’s had, we wouldn’t be surprised if he just really fancied a salad or a sorbet.

Mark previously told Jimmy Kimmel that he had hoped to gain the weight needed for the role by enjoying ‘20-piece chicken nugget, hot wings from Kentucky Fried Chicken with a six-pack of beer,’ but said: ‘They want me to do it as healthy as possible. I’m like, “Dude, I’ve been on such a regimen for so long, I just want to eat everything in sight.”

‘I want to go to bakeries, I want to go to Denny’s, I want to get pancakes. I want to get everything that I could possibly get my hands on.’

Duran predicts that it won’t take long for the star to drop the weight he gained, as he is used to extreme eating regimes.

It’s not just his diet that makes headlines, though, as Mark’s daily routine had everyone making the same ‘huh? noise when he shared it back in 2018. 

The actor, who has four children with his wife Rhea, woke up at 2.30am and had breakfast at 3.15am before working out, having another meal, showering and playing a round of golf all before 8am. 

The rest of his day included a stint in a cryo chamber, a second workout, family time and work calls before Mark went to bed at 7.30pm.

We prefer a lie-in til 12pm, Netflix til midnight and a takeaway, but whatever floats your boat.
