Ashleigh Barty Matches Serena Williams’ Intriguing Record After Her Consistent Run on Tour

World No.1 Ashleigh Barty recently surpassed the Paula Badosa challenge in the semi-finals of the Mutua Madrid Open 2021. She thrashed the Spanish player in straight sets to secure a comfortable win in the semis. The final scoreline of the match was 6-4, 6-3.

It looks like Ashleigh Barty is not in competition with any player but herself on the tour. Tomorrow, it’ll be her fourth final of the season when the season is not even half completed yet. Records are following her with her exceptional performances and she recently registered her name in the history books.

With her win over Badosa, Barty passed 10,000 points on the WTA tour. She is right now at the No.1 spot in the WTA rankings with 10,090 points. Interestingly, she became the first WTA player to cross the magic figure since Serena Williams achieved the same in July 2015. Interestingly, the 23-time Grand Slam champion had more than 10,000 points till January 2016.

Williams managed to get past 10,000 points a number of times and she even achieved more than 13,000 points at one stage in her career. It’ll be intriguing to see if Barty can establish that kind of dominance in tennis or not.

Ashleigh Barty in the 2021 tennis season

As of now, Barty has a 25-3 win-loss record on the WTA tour. She has already won the WTA Melbourne 500, Miami Open 2021, and the Stuttgart Open 2021 as well. On Saturday, she’ll play her fourth final of the season at the Mutua Madrid Open 2021.

Surprisingly, Barty has a 16-match winning streak on red clay. She is certainly playing some phenomenal tennis on clay at the moment and can repeat her French Open 2019 campaign at Roland Garros this year. On tour, she is currently on a 9-match winning streak.

Because of her splendid season so far, Barty will certainly be starting as the favorite in the finals of the Mutua Madrid Open 2021. She’ll face the ruthless Aryna Sabalenka in the finals- whom she defeated in the finals of the Stuttgart Open 2021. Will Barty be able to win her fourth title of the season in Madrid tomorrow?
