Family terrified after finding 50 SNAKE SKINS in their loft but can’t find the beast hiding in their house

A FAMILY were left terrified after 50 snake skins were found in their loft – but the deadly predator hiding in their house could not be found.

During a routine roof inspection of the family home located in Rocksberg, near the Sunshine Coast in southern Australia, a snake catcher made the grisly discovery.

After popping his head into the family’s roof expecting to find a serpent slithering around, Dave from Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers was shocked to instead spot up to 50 snake skeletons lurking in the darkness.

In a Facebook post sharing the hair-raising haul, the snake catchers explained, “He brought down over 30 snake skins out of the family’s roof space, and there was probably another 20 skins up there.”

But unfortunately for the homeowners, the lengthy-looking predator was nowhere to be seen.

“Dave has seen plenty of skins left in people’s roofs before but nothing like this,” fellow snake catcher Stuart McKenzie told the MailOnline.

But not everyone was creeped out by the skins – as “the kids at the house loved it and had plenty of questions to ask Dave about snakes.”

One young boy was even pictured proudly holding the bundle of snake skins in the post shared on Facebook.

Thanks to their expertise, the team were able to tell what kind of snakes had been sneaking around the family home – which luckily were non-venomous.

They were most likely to be carpet pythons and common tree snakes.

“Snakes spend a lot of time in roof spaces because there’s lots of food up there like rodents,” Stuart continued.

“It’s rare you’d get a brown snake or red belly in your roof. As long as they’re not making a ruckus, they’re usually pretty good.”

Despite the massive stash of snake skins making some people’s skin crawl – the snake catchers said keeping snakes in your roof was actually a great idea.

“Snakes are great to have in your roof as they eat all the rodents. Who doesn’t love free pest control!” the Facebook post read.

It has now amassed nearly 6,000 likes and 5,500 comments, as social media users weigh in on the disturbing discovery.

One commented: “My worst nightmare! Would be time to knock the whole house down and start again.”

“OMG!!! I’d actually move out” another added.

“Is nowhere safe?? How on EARTH does that happen,” one said.

Others were impressed by the catchers advice, with one user saying: “Here is the answer to our problem in the shed!”

“Imagine having a non venomous, low maintenance pet snake to keep the rats out of my roof. I wouldn’t need to feed it. Just keep the attic tidy, scoop the poop, and keep it free of hazards,” another jibed.
