Love Island 2021: New pictures show Mallorca villa in need of a spring clean ahead of series launch

New photographs captured of the Love Island villa in Mallorca show the property in need of a thorough spring clean ahead of the 2021 series launch.

After last year’s season of Love Island was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, fans of the reality dating competition are brimming with excitement over its return this summer.

It’s believed the show is set to take place in Mallorca on a Covid-secure set, although ITV is said to have a back-up villa arranged in Jersey just in case filming on the island isn’t possible due to the virus.

For the singletons signed up to star in the series, they could be staying at the luxurious Love Island villa… although hopefully it would be dusted off before their arrival.

New pictures of the site show the huge T-shaped outdoor swimming pool, with four sun loungers placed next to it and a dusty table tennis table behind.

Just past the swimming pool, a wall appears to have been crumbling away, so we’d assume that area would be tidied up before the Islanders make their way to the villa.

In another bird’s-eye view image, the small outdoor balcony upstairs on the first floor can be seen with just a bench on the terrace, without the typical comfy seating viewers are used to seeing in the area.

On the ground floor terrace, two sofas and four chairs are situated around a table, with a blanket or cover of some kind trailing on the floor.

One of the more scenic shots shows the villa against a green, hilly backdrop, with the surrounding foliage looking expertly pruned.

If the Islanders are lucky enough to travel to Mallorca for the show, they sure are going to have a ball basking in the sunshine.

Before filming commences, it’s expected that the contestants will be flown out and placed in quarantine.

It’s believed that they will each have their own chaperone to make sure that they don’t mingle with the other stars.

While the 2021 series of Love Island isn’t actually that far away, applications are still open on ITV2’s digital casting platform.

On the site, it says that ‘applications will remain open until we announce a closing date for Series 7’.

Since late March, singletons have also been able to apply through Tinder.

To apply, you must be aged 18 or over, hold a passport which is valid until at least February 2022 and you need to be available for a minimum of ten consecutive weeks over the summer in order to participate in filming.

Love Island is available to watch on ITV Hub.
