New PS5 with even MORE powerful chip inside for better graphics ‘coming next year’
SONY is working on a new version of the PlayStation 5 loaded with an even more powerful engine, according to reports.
The alleged console will apparently boast an upgraded chip that grants games even better graphics and performance.
Sources close to Sony’s supply lines told Taiwanese business site DigiTimes that the company is already arranging production of the new mamchine.
Microchip-maker TSMC is planning to start producing of the redesigned PS5 between March and September next year, they claimed.
The semiconductor chip loaded into the contraption will be a new version of the AMD Zen 2 processor featured in the current iteration of the PS5.
However, the newer model will be manufactured using the 6nm process, rather than the 7nm process like current PS5 chips, sources said.

That should give the console a small performance boost and help with power saving.
Changing up the manufacturing process is standard practice in the console world, and should help Sony lower production costs.
The firm has switched up how it makes its chip for its previous consoles, so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the PS5 get a similar treatment.
Sony released the PlayStation 5 worldwide in November 2020.
The full PS5 costs £449/$499, while a Digital Edition without a disc tray is priced at £359/$399.
They’re up against the Xbox Series X (£449) and Xbox Series S (£249), which also hit shelves last November.
All four consoles have been sold out around the world, with stock seesawing in and out of availability over the past few months.
PlayStation boss Jim Ryan recently claimed that it would be much easier to get a PS5 from July onwards as production of the console accelerates.
The PS5 launched with major exclusive games like Spider-Man Miles Morales and a revamped version of Dark Souls for players to enjoy.
Xbox gamers, on the other hand, have a new Halo title to look forward to later this year.
