Jupiter’s Legacy: Will there be a season 2? Andrew Horton teases future of Netflix superhero series
Warning: spoilers ahead for Jupiter’s Legacy.
Following the launch of Jupiter’s Legacy on Netflix, some fans are already eagerly anticipating season two, despite it not yet being officially confirmed.
However, Andrew Horton, who plays Brandon Sampson, aka The Paragon, in the superhero show, has teased that an announcement might not be too far off.
Jupiter’s Legacy, based on the comic book series of the same name by Mark Millar, follows a group of superheroes lead by The Utopian (Josh Duhamel) who – after obtaining special abilities in the 1930s – are now role models for young heroes with aspirations to follow in their footsteps.
During a recent conversation with Metro.co.uk, Andrew emphasised that the TV adaptation has ‘barely scratched the surface’ of the original source material, which includes the Jupiter’s Legacy and Jupiter’s Circle comics.
When asked about a potential second season, the British actor made it clear that he expects a statement to be released very soon.
‘I think it’s going to come around pretty soon, as far as I’m aware, from Netflix higher-up talks,’ he said.
‘So I’m hoping that within the next month or within the month of the show coming out that we should have an idea. Hopefully sooner, because then I can start planning the rest of my year accordingly,’ he added, laughing.
Something that Andrew would definitely like to see in future instalments of the drama is scenes between Brandon and Hutch (Ian Quinlan), the son of former member of The Union George Hutchence (Matt Lanter), otherwise known as Skyfox.
‘Whether it’s specifically written in, because we have asked for it, or whether it’s more just that’s where the story leads, it would be brilliant, because in the comic books they don’t even have a lot of dialogue with each other,’ Andrew said.
Referencing the relationship that forms between Hutch and Brandon’s sister Chloe (Elena Kampouris) in the series, Andrew added: ‘I’d love to have a scene where it could be like an awkward moment where Chloe’s living back at home or something and getting ready to go out with Hutch, and it’s just me and him sat in the lounge together like… “So…”
‘Something like that, I’ll throw it out there. Mark, you can add it in if you want to. I’ll take a writer credit, I’d be alright with that,’ he quipped.
At the very end of the first season of Jupiter’s Legacy, it’s revealed that Walter Sampson (Ben Daniels), the brother of The Utopian, is the evil mastermind behind recent tragic events.
While speaking to Metro.co.uk and other press, The Crown star explained how the finale ending was originally to be extremely different, saying that he ‘can’t wait’ to hopefully explore his character further in a second season as there’s ‘some stuff’ that gets ‘very meaty’. Fingers crossed!
