Former Love Island star Francesca Allen has spoken out about her time on the ITV reality dating show, saying that she didn’t know if she ‘should trust the producers’.

Francesca, owner of boutique fashion shop Bonnie & Clyde, starred in the fifth series of the revived Love Island in 2019, which was won by Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea.

She entered the villa on the 37th day of the competition, before being ‘dumped’ 12 days later.

Looking back on her time in the competition, Francesca described it like being ‘in another little world’ where ‘you don’t really know who to trust’.

When asked whether she regretted taking part or would do it again, she said that ‘when you first go in there you get thrown into the deep end, it’s a whole other world and it’s trying on your mind’.

‘It’s very peculiar, you’re in another little world, you have your phone taken off you, you have no friends and no family there,’ she told The Mirror.

‘You don’t really know who to trust, the producers are telling you to trust them and you’re like, “Hmmm, no, I shouldn’t trust you.”’

Nonetheless, Francesca admitted that she would likely do her whole experience all over again due to the impact it had on her as an individual.

‘So it’s a play on your mental state, but, do you know what I probably would do it again, I think it made me grow up a lot and made me a better person perhaps,’ she said.

The 2021 series of Love Island is set to go ahead this year after last year’s show was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It’s believed it will be filmed in Mallorca on a Covid-secure set, although ITV is said to have a back-up villa arranged in Jersey just in case filming abroad on the island isn’t possible.

New pictures recently released of the villa in Mallorca showed the property in need of a thorough clean if it’s to host the singletons this summer.

Before filming stars, it’s believed that the contestants will be flown out and placed in quarantine.

It’s expected that they will each have a chaperone to ensure that they don’t mix with the other Islanders.

Love Island is available to watch on ITV Hub.
