UFC Fight Night: Rodriguez vs Waterson: Donald Cerrone vs Alex Morono -Prediction and Analysis
UFC Fight Night: Rodriguez vs Waterson will see an intriguing welterweight contest between Donald Cerrone and Alex Morono. ‘Cowboy’ will look to bounce back as he hasn’t won in his last 5 fights. He will look to turn his skid around, but his back will be against the wall as Alex Morono is a short-notice replacement.
Morono is coming off a decision loss against former UFC lightweight champion and current PFL star, Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis. ‘The Great White’ last defeated Rhys McKee in November 2020. He was knocked out by Khaos Williams at UFC 247 prior to that. A UFC veteran since 2016, Morono has won 7 out of his 12 fights in the UFC, losing 4.
Cerrone is a multiple record holder in the history of the UFC. However, his recent skid has jeopardized his career and he could be on borrowed time in the UFC.
The fight against Morono will be Cerrone’s 55th fight as a professional. ‘Cowboy’, who has a massive 27 finishes under his resume (10 T/KO, 17 submissions), will be determined to get back to the win column against Morono.
Donald Cerrone vs Alex Morono: Analysis
Morono has a professional record of 18-7 with 11 finishes. 5 T/KO and 6 submissions rack up his finish tally. He has some first-round finishes in his career, but that’s not a very significant aspect of his game. Cerrone, who is known as a slow starter, can be a problem for anyone once he weathers the early storm. ‘Cowboy’ has been knocked out only once in his career.
Also, Cerrone might have lost 4 of his last 5 fights, but those were against only champions of the promotion. He just doesn’t lose to any opponent at all. And given Morono is not a first-round knockout artist, Cerrone should be able to build as the fight goes. That will cause Morono problems as he is taking the fight on short notice.

Cerrone should be able to counter Morono’s willingness to take the fight to the ground. And it’s very hard to imagine ‘Cowboy’ being submitted. So, a decision win looks likely for Cerrone.
Final Prediction: Donald ‘Cowboy‘ Cerrone by unanimous decision.
