Canelo Alvarez Hammers Billy Joe Saunders’ Eye to Claim a Stoppage Win

The super-middleweight title unification encounter between Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders certainly lived up to the buzz created around it. Both the pugilists rolled out an enigmatic show and put the fight fans in a frenzy. However, the favorite Canelo Alvarez came right on top in this fight to claim an RTD win in round 8.

‘Superb’ stayed sharp with his movements in the initial rounds. Whereas, the Mexican boxer took a backseat and tried to analyze Saunders’ movements. But in round 2, Canelo picked up the pace and even landed some powerful right hands to Saunders’ face and body.

On the other hand, Billy Joe Saunders kept a wide stance and utilized full ring space to dodge some of Canelo’s mighty shots. With time, Canelo settled into the rhythm and only got comfortable as the fight moved ahead. Saunders, however, kept Alvarez on his toes and fought with supreme confidence.

Both the sturdy super-middleweights gave each other a rugged outing. But it was the Jalisco native who showcased his worth yet again to add a sensational win to his name.

Both Saunders and Alvarez kept the fans on their toes until the stoppage.

Alvarez, though he had a minor disadvantage in reach and height, he didn’t let the same hamper his performance against the rugged Saunders. Out of all the rounds that took place, round 8 turned out to be the best for Canelo as he struck the British boxer with a few cosmic shots.

Succumbing to a few terrifying strikes in round 8, Saunders suffered a swollen eye. Consequently, to save him from further damage, the referee decided to end the bout after round 8’s conclusion.

Canelo Alvarez all set to face Caleb Plant?

Ever since the 30-year-old notched up to the super-middleweight roster, his sole aim was to conquer all the belts at this weight class.
