Canelo Alvarez Sends a Chilling Message to Caleb Plant: ‘I’m Coming My Friend’

Canelo Alvarez proved his worth as the best super-middleweight in the world yet again. The multi-weight world champion showed his class with another victory, this time over fellow champion Billy Joe Saunders. And the Mexican had a clear message for Caleb Plant after the fight.

Alvarez and Saunders fought as the main event of an exciting card and the fight lived up to expectations. The two champions treated fans to an incredibly technical fight which Alvarez won thanks to a right uppercut which caused Saunders’ eye to swell.

After the fight, the 56-1-2 boxer spoke to Chris Mannix in his post-fight interview. About his next move, Alvarez addressed the Caleb Plant rumors. He said, “That’s the plan. That’s the plan to go for the belt. And, I’m coming man, I’m coming my friend.”

This showed the champion’s history to etch his name in boxing history. Alvarez also showed his desperation for the fight when he said, “I hope so. I hope that fight [is] made easy and then give the fans the first undisputed [super-middleweight champion] in the history.”

This comment showed that the champion is looking to etch his name in the history books, rather than picking easy fights.

When can Canelo Alvarez face Caleb Plant?

The P4P superstar had said he wanted to all four belts by the end of the year and is on course to achieve this. However, as fans have seen many times in boxing, difference in timelines can stop a fight from happening. So when will Canelo Alvarez face Caleb Plant?

The American confirmed last week that he has recovered from an injury and is back in training. Moreover, he even said they were working towards facing Canelo in September. And given that Alvarez has fought in May, it would be a good timeline for both.

Therefore, as of now, it appears the sport will have a new super-middleweight champion by September. Only time will tell if that is Canelo Alvarez or Caleb Plant.

What do you make of these comments from Canelo Alvarez? Do you think he will be ready to face Plant by September?
