‘It was Almost Cinematic’: The Last Dance Director Details How Michael Jordan Recalled his Hall of Fame Speech

Apart from Senna and Maradona, no documentary has encapsulated the sports fraternity like ‘The Last Dance’. The director of the documentary, Jason Hehir, compiled an in-depth look into Michael Jordan’s legacy for budding new talents in the league.

Having won 6 championships with the Chicago Bulls, his achievements will forever remain unmatched. A colorful individual both on and off the court, his self-belief, and gritty determination is unrivaled.

Jason Hehir perfectly exclaimed his sense of aura. “Michael has an ability to snap from normal dude into statue at the drop of a hat. And he knows that. He knows the power he has over people with the ability to do that.

“It was almost cinematic. He stuck that finger across the table, and to me it looked like it was two feet long. All of a sudden, I was like: ‘Holy (expletive)! That’s Michael Jordan.’ That was the first time that occurred to me.”

Michael Jordan and his will to Win

The effect he had on his teammates was exemplary. His Airness improved every player on the team by pushing them to the limits. Being a tough competitor in training, his love for the game was admirable, and always voiced his opinions.

The fear of not winning fuelled his game. Although his statistics on the court were legendary, no player will be the MVP for intangibles other than Jordan.

The documentary was a fitting tribute to the G.O.A.T.

His legacy in the NBA

Be it the mid-range shot, or dunks, or even his requirement for longer shorts in the league, his quest for perfection was second to none. When players tried to ruffle him up, he would simply come back stronger. The legacy he has left behind is untouchable.

The Chicago faithful will never forget their golden era with this phenomenal player. Time will tell whether he gets replaced as the greatest of all time, but for now, he is monumental.
