Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard discuss other people they find attractive and ‘schedule’ sex as a way of making sure they stay together forever.

The Veronica Mars star insisted her self-esteem ‘isn’t affected’ if her husband confesses to fancying someone else, male or female.

In an interview with Self she said it was part of their efforts to strengthen their relationship so it doesn’t go the way as both of their parents’ – who have been divorced multiple times on each side.

‘Do you want to be on the porch with someone when you’re 80? We both want that,’ the actress told Self.

‘He can tell me someone he finds attractive, female or male, ’cause he pauses the Olympics on a lot of runners, but it doesn’t make me feel like he’s going to leave me for that person because I’m not allowing my self-esteem to be affected.

‘I know there are people on Planet Earth that are more attractive than me, and well, we’re not dead. I have to acknowledge we’re monkeys.’

Getting intimate hasn’t been impacted by the pandemic either as other couples may have found, with the 40-year-old explaining they put sexy time ‘in the calendar’.

‘You’re like, “I know you’re tired, but it’s been two weeks, so we really got to get to it,”‘ she added.

Last year Bell, who shares daughters Lincoln, seven, and Delta, five, with the actor, declared she was standing by her man following his relapse into substance abuse in October.

She said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show: ‘One of the main reasons I love him is he’s also addicted to growth. He’s addicted to evolving and he was like, I don’t want to risk this family and I did, so let’s put new things in place to make sure it doesn’t happen again.’

The Good Place star added: ‘We’re going back to therapy. I love that he’s addicted to growth, and I will continue to stand by him because he’s very, very worth it.’
