The BBC aired the first episode of its new three-part series, The Pursuit of Love, but Line Of Duty fans were missing AC-12 from their screens.

The Pursuit of Love, an adaptation of the beloved novel by Nancy Mitford, has taken over from Line Of Duty’s coveted slot on Sunday nights.

Set in Europe between the two World Wars, the series follows the charismatic and fearless Linda Radlett (Lily James) and Fanny Logan (Emily Beecham) as they hunt for their ideal husbands.

As social and political divisions split the nation, their diverging choices raise personal questions that remain intensely relevant today – questions about freedom, love and sex, and the mystery of the human heart.

However, it’ll take some getting used to for some viewers who admitted that watching the new series made them miss Jed Mercurio’s gritty police drama, which ended last Sunday.

‘This upper class escapist drivel on #BBCone is frankly disappointing after the grit and drama of #LineofDuty; not sure I’m going to give #ThePursuitOfLove any more time,’ one person tweeted.

Another viewer said: ‘I would give anything for #LineofDuty back.’

Viewers who were displeased with the show said they even preferred the disappointing series 6 finale of Line Of Duty.

‘This is making the last episode of Line of Duty look great,’ a fan of the police drama said.

Another wrote: ‘That Line of Duty ending doesn’t seem all that bad now #ThePursuitOfLove.’

‘When do AC-12 turn up?’ one begged to know.

The Pursuit of Love still has two episodes to go, so let’s wait and see if Line Of Duty fans will change their tune.

The Pursuit of Love returns to BBC One next Sunday at 9pm and is available to catch-up on BBC iPlayer.
