Alastair Campbell has come face-to-face with The Wanted’s Max George on today’s episode of Good Morning Britain 10 years after a ‘scrap‘.
The presenter, who is currently fronting the ITV daytime alongside Susanna Reid, interviewed the singer on the programme as he kicked off his debut for Mental Health Awareness Week.
However, before they got down to business, Alastair pointed out that the duo had clashed almost a decade ago.
‘I think we should start by clearing the air a bit, ok?’ Alastair began. ‘June 9, 2011. Soccer six at the beloved home of my beloved football club Burnley Football Club, Turf Moor, and there was a charity match.
‘I was the captain of the Burnley supporters’ team and we were up against The Wanted.’
‘Did it all turn nasty?’ asked Susanna.
‘Alastiar was late for a few tackles,’ Max replied.
‘I’m going to admit, I did the first bad tackle,’ Alastair later added, putting his hands up.
After the show, Alastair took to social media to address the feud.
‘Enjoyed seeing @MaxGeorge a decade after our scrap and he will be a big boost to the mental health advocacy cause,’ he penned.
‘And it meant pictures of Turf Moor to go with my Sean Dyche cast-off tie ahead of Fulham tonight.’
Max opened up about his struggles with mental health during his interview on the show.
‘When The Wanted first took off, that’s when I started noticing changes,’ he said.
‘It was more physical at the start. It started with what I thought was rashes and then what looked like acne on my back and my chest, I’d never had that before.
‘And then I started to feel that I wasn’t enjoying the stuff that I loved the most,’ Max continued. ‘It was a weird position to be in because I just started to achieve everything I’d ever wanted.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
