Fans pay tribute to Corey La Barrie one year on from YouTuber star’s death on his 25th birthday
Fans and friends have paid tribute to YouTuber Corey La Barrie, one year after his death on his 25th birthday in a car crash in LA.
The vehicle’s alleged driver, Ink Master star Daniel Silva, was charged over his killing last August.
He was sentenced to 364 days in jail, five years of formal probation, 250 hours of community service and a suspended prison sentence of four years.
Corey’s fellow YouTuber and close friend JC Caylen led the tributes to him.
‘Happy Birthday to my friend, Corey LaBarrie.
‘You will never be forgotten. & you will always, always be celebrated Til the the day we meet again.’
Webb Brothers’ star Harrison, with whom Corey had collaborated in the past, also posted on what would have been his 26th birthday.
He wrote: ‘Happy birthday Corey. Miss you every day mate’
Vlogger and Twitch streamer Ryan Abe also marked the day, tweeting: ‘Happy Birthday Corey’
Fans got involved by sharing their birthday wishes and favourite memories of the popular social media star.
One tweeted: ‘happy birthday corey!! i cant believe it’s been a whole year without u. hope you’re doing well up there. we all love and miss u so much!!’
Another posted: ‘today is corey’s day and his day only. today we celebrate his life.’
‘corey la barrie, forever in our hearts. such an amazing human being, we were lucky to have a person like him! forever love him’, said a third.
Corey’s mother, Lissa Burton, posted a photo of flowers and a Mother’s Day card on Instagram yesterday, signed by her three children, including Corey.
Corey boasted more than 335,000 subscribers to his personal YouTube channel but he was also known as one-half of a YouTube duo alongside Crawford Collins. Together, they had an audience of over 104,000.
The content creator’s last tweet was posted just hours before his death.
‘Thank you for the birthday wishes love you guys! And if you have the intro to my stream how did you like it?’ he wrote.
Earlier this year, Silva directly spoke out about Corey’s death online for the first time after being charged with killing him, saying he ‘cherishes memories’ with him and sharing a photo of a leopard tattoo he’d inked on Corey.
