“It’s Where I Won My First ATP Match”: Andy Murray Announces Return Date to Tennis

Three-time Grand Slam winner Andy Murray has contributed immensely to this wonderful sport. When he lifted the US Open in 2012, he lifted the spirits of the British public. He became the first British male player to win a singles Grand Slam title in 76 long years! Before him, Fred Perry was the last Briton to win a Major.

The former World No. 1 Andy Murray has been out of action since the ATP Rotterdam Open this year. It’s been close to two months and the British player has provided a positive development concerning his return back on Tour. He will be seen at the Queen’s Club Championships in London.

The Olympic Gold Medalist was excited to return and stated, “It’s been such a difficult time for everyone and it will be great to play in front of home fans in Britain again. The tournament at Queen’s has always meant a lot to me – it’s where I won my first ATP match, I’ve won the singles at Queen’s more than any other in my career, and I’ll never forget our doubles title in 2019. I can’t wait to get back out there.”

Five-time champion Andy Murray charged up to return at Queen’s

Besides returning on Tour, Andy is thrilled to have the presence of fans. Due to the pandemic, there have been many events that have restricted audiences over the past year. He is a five-time champion and the most successful player to compete at the venue. He fondly remembered the doubles title he won a couple of years ago.

Speaking about Andy’s season so far, he began proceedings at the ATP Challenger Biella, Italy. Unfortunately, he lost in the final. His last appearance was at Rotterdam and he lost to Russian athlete Andrey Rublev in the pre-quarterfinals.

Recently, there were reports of him going to Rome to practice with Novak Djokovic. He will look to perform at his best at the Queen’s Club Championships upon his return, which begins on the 14th of June onwards.
