WATCH: Serena Williams Masters the Art of Clay Court Slide Under Patrick Mouratoglou’s Supervision
Over the past couple of decades, tennis ace Serena Williams has mesmerized tennis fans from all over the world. The hunger and desire in her to compete for the biggest prizes in the sport still remain high. At the age of 39 years, she is giving the young guns a run for their money.
Recently, Williams was training with her coach Patrick Mouratoglou on the clay courts in Rome. She was practicing the ‘slide’ as it is a mandatory follow-through movement when players execute their shots while playing on the clay courts.
Considering the American star is a four-time champion in Rome and a three-time winner at the French Open, it shouldn’t take long before she masters the art of the slide.

In the clip, Serena is seen running from one side (backhand) of the court towards the other (forehand). Midway through the video, she performs the same drill, but this time with the racquet striking the ball.
Mouratoglou and Williams have enjoyed tremendous success on Tour. Together, they have won 10 Grand Slam titles on Tour as a team. Besides coaching Serena, he has his academy set up in France and Dubai. Upcoming talents like Stefanos Tsitsipas and Coco Gauff are currently training under him.
Moving on to Williams’ tennis this season, she featured in the Australian Open and ended her hopes of lifting her much-awaited 24th Grand Slam title. She lost to eventual champion Naomi Osaka in the semifinal.
Since then, she has not featured in any event and is resuming her season on the clay courts in Rome. Following that, she is scheduled to play at the second Grand Slam event of the season, the French Open.
Last year, she had to pull out of the French Open due to an Achilles’ heel injury. Therefore, she will look to have a more successful run at this year’s events on the clay courts.
