Lewis Capaldi had viewers of the 2021 Brit Awards in stitches, as almost his entire speech was censored by ITV due to profanity.

The Scottish star did his fans proud at the event, as he presented the final award, best British album, which was given to Dua Lipa for Future Nostalgia.

Rocking up on stage, he told everyone to ‘shut up’, before declaring: ‘Hello motherf**kers!’

The rest of the speech was a mystery to ITV viewers, as the broadcaster muted most of the rest of the speech – although of course fans took to social media to share the uncensored version.

‘Listen guys,’ he urged. ‘I’m f**king sweating. It’s like a swamp down there, I’m telling you. Sweaty b****ks.

‘Hello Brit Awards! That’s where we are. I’m really sorry, I’m reading off a card here – how is everyone doing?

‘It’s great to be here tonight, it’s just great to be out of the house to be honest. It’s been a great year for albums, most of all because I haven’t f**king released one. It’s a total honour to present the award for album – best album. Let’s hope that this year is even bigger and better than ever for British music!’ he said.

‘And let’s also hope that Scotland win at the Euros,’ the Before You Go hitmaker continued, receiving an audible boo from the crowd.

‘I didn’t f**king write it!’ he cried. ‘I’m just doing a job! Here are the nominees…’

Safe to say, Lewis’ speech – or what we heard of it – caused a stir, with one fan writing on Twitter: ‘Lewis capaldi coming onto stage to announce the award and swear so much that the entire of his speech is muted is sending me.’

‘Couple’s Halloween costume idea: Lewis Capaldi and the Audio Muted graphic,’ another said.

‘Still howling at lewis capaldi getting his audio muted through his entire speech,’ one more added.

Should we have expected anything else?

Aside from Lewis’ sweary speech, host Jack Whitehall also provided a few awkward moments as he took aim at some of the guests.

As he asked pregnant Little Mix stars Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock how they kept themselves busy in lockdown, Perrie begged him to stop as her dad would be watching.

The comic went on to take aim at Piers Morgan, and reference Este Haim hijacking Liam Payne and Cheryl’s interview at the 2018 Brit Awards.

Never change guys.
