Chrissy Teigen apologizes to Courtney Stodden for past trolling tweets: ‘I am ashamed and embarrassed at my behavior’
Chrissy Teigen has issued a public apology to Courtney Stodden after they called out the model for previously telling them to ‘kill yourself’ in a direct message on Twitter.
Tuesday saw former Celebrity Big Brother star Courtney, who recently came out as non-binary, call out the cookbook author for past trolling tweets she publicly bullied them.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday to respond to the allegations, Chrissy wrote: ‘Not a lot of people are lucky enough to be held accountable for all their past bulls**t in front of the entire world. I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be.
‘I was an insecure, attention seeking troll. I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior but that is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel.
‘I have worked so hard to give you guys joy and be beloved and the feeling of letting you down is nearly unbearable, truly. These were not my only mistakes and surely won’t be my last as hard as I try but god I will try!!’
The 35-year-old continued: ‘I have tried to connect with Courtney privately but since I publicly fueled all this, I want to also publicly apologize. I’m so sorry, Courtney. I hope you can heal now knowing how deeply sorry I am.
‘And I am so sorry I let you guys down. I will forever work on being better than I was 10 years ago, 1 year ago, 6 months ago.’
Courtney, who recently came out as non-binary, hit headlines a decade ago when at the age of 16, they married The Green Mile star Doug Hutchison, who was 50 years old at the time.
Their marriage in 2011 made Courtney a target for abuse and mockery, and Courtney, 26, recently called out Chrissy for trolling them on social media.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, Courtney alleged that Chrissy would DM them vile messages in addition to tweeting posts like ‘I hate you’ at the teenager.

The reality star said: ‘She wouldn’t just publicly tweet about wanting me to take “a dirt nap” but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself. Things like, “I can’t wait for you to die.” ‘
They added: ‘People came out of the woodwork to beat up on a kid because she was in a situation that she shouldn’t have been in. There were a lot of celebrities acting like playground bullies. Some of the worst treatment I got was from women, and we’re not going to get anywhere if we keep holding each other back.’
Courtney previously called out Chrissy in an Instagram video last month, in which they accused the Lip Sync Battle host of ‘shaming and bullying’ them when they were a minor.
Now-deleted tweets sent by Chrissy in 2011 and 2012, when Courtney was 16 or 17, have since surfaced.
In one tweet aimed at Courtney, Chrissy wrote: ‘@CourtneyStodden my Friday fantasy: you. dirt nap. mmmmmm baby’, while another read: ‘go. to sleep. forever.’
Chrissy tweeted: ‘I hate you’ at the teenager in 2012 while in another tweet, she mocked: ‘what drug makes you do that with your mouth? asking for a friend who really wants to know how to look like an idiot.’
The mother-of-two recently returned to Twitter after briefly leaving the platform due to negative comments.
Courtney is currently writing a memoir and recording new music after divorcing Doug last year.
