Michael Jordan’s Game Worn College Jersey Sells For A Whooping $1.38 million, Becomes The Costliest MJ Memorabilia Ever

Michael Jordan was arguably one of the most influential players in basketball. Given his scoring ability and his leadership skills on the court, MJ is often considered as the GOAT of the game.

In the 15 seasons that he played, MJ had his fair share of laurels. With six NBA championships, five MVP trophies, 10 scoring titles, and 14-All Star appearances, MJ probably had one of the most illustrious careers in the NBA.

But before starting his journey with the Bulls, MJ played college ball, representing the North Carolina Tar Heels. Even as a freshman, Jordan proved himself with a game-clinching shot in the NCAA finals.

A Michael Jordan worn jersey sells for a record price

Given his success at the NBA and in the NCAA, it is understandable why items related to Jordan make for some of the best sports memorabilia one can get. Be it his iconic game-worn Bulls’ Jersey or his signed Jordans, MJ memorabilia are getting more valuable by the day.

Recently, one item shattered all the previous records set by MJ’s souvenirs. According to The Athletic, an MJ game-worn college Tar Heels jersey sold for a whopping $1.38 million. This is easily the costliest Jordan jersey ever. Given how important that season was for ‘His Airness‘ to put himself on the map, it is clear why the jersey was so valuable.

What makes this more special is that it is the only game-worn Jordan jersey from the 1982-1983 season. Although he did win the title as a freshman, MJ really took a massive leap in the 82-83 season and started showing superstar potential.

The previous record was held by a piece of hardwood from the Jazz’s Delta Center basketball court, which was sold for $1 million. This was the place where MJ hit his iconic Finals game-winner against the Karl Malone and John Stockton-led Utah Jazz.
