NBA Basketball News: ‘Got F*cking Steph Curry’: Draymond Green Explains Why Current Warriors Team is Different From ‘We Believe’ Team
The Golden State Warriors have been on fire in the last month. Steph Curry has been playing some of the best basketball of his career, as he has led the Golden State Warriors to the eighth seed in the Western Conference. As things stand, the Warriors will have to play through the play-in tournament to reach the playoffs this season. But Draymond Green isn’t concerned about their chances, dismissing comparisons to the ‘We Believe’ Warriors from a decade ago.
Draymond says they are not ‘We Believe 2.0’
Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green spoke to the press after the Warriors’ comeback win over the Phoenix Suns. He noted that this current edition of the Golden State Warriors is nothing like the ‘We Believe’ Warriors of 2007. While he has the utmost respect for all the players involved in that team, they are not the underdogs like the Warriors of old. Draymond noted that he is a former three-time champion, and these Warriors have Stephen Curry in their team.
“We’re not no We Believe 2.0, we got f—ing Steph Curry.”

“The ‘We Believe’ days are over. I’ve won three championships, I’m not part of no ‘We Believe’ team. And like I said, that’s no disrespect to the OGs that came before me, I love those guys and what they started here is incredible. … No disrespect to them at all, ‘cuz what they did is incredible. But, nah, we’re not no ‘We Believe’ 2.0. We got f—king Steph Curry on our team.” (H/T Yahoo Sports)
Steph Curry has a lot on his plate this year
The ‘We Believe’ Warriors was the name given to the 2007 Warriors team. At the time, the Warriors got the eighth seed in the conference, despite there being tougher competition in the West. The Warriors faced the first seed Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs and shockingly knocked them out in the first round of the playoffs.
However, they were not able to get past the fourth seed Utah Jazz in the conference semi-finals. But still, the Warriors had earned the respect of all the teams, because of their fairytale playoff win over the Mavericks.
Can this current Golden State Warriors do something similar in the playoffs this year? While Draymond Green is right about the Warriors having Stephen Curry, the team is still quite light. In fact, there is no other player on the Warriors who provides consistent offense for the team other than Stephen Curry. So all the attacking load falls on to him.
If the Dubs want to achieve playoff success this season, the rest of the team has to step up.
