Ewan McGregor has delivered a massive teaser about the upcoming Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi, hinting that he shared a scene with ‘someone very special in my life’ while on set on May the 4th.

16 years since last portraying Obi-Wan on screen, Ewan, 50, is currently filming a Star Wars spin-off series for Disney Plus named after the Jedi Master.

While the production is currently shrouded mystery – as can be expected with any TV series or film set in the intergalactic universe – the actor did tease that an exciting cameo could be on the way.

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Trainspotting star said that on May the 4th – which is known around the world as Star Wars day due to the date sounding similar to the famous line ‘May the Force be with you’ – he had a ‘great moment’ with a ‘special’ scene partner.

‘I got to play a very special scene on May the 4th, with someone very special in my life and that’s all I can tell you about it, but it was a great moment for me,’ he said.

When pressed further by Jimmy on who this person was, with the TV host asking: ‘Is this someone special that we’ve seen you on camera with before?’ Ewan replied: ‘No. I don’t think so.’

Ewan was then asked if the person in question is related to him, prompting the actor to provide the perplexing answer: ‘No not necessarily,’ before bursting into laughter.

Several Star Wars fans have been trying to guess who this ‘special’ someone could be, with several people suggesting Satine Kryze, a character who appears in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

However, others believe Ewan is doing a Paul Bettany by teasing a special cameo that will turn out to be a practical joke.

As WandaVision fans will remember, while the Marvel series was airing on Disney Plus, Paul said during an interview that one ‘exciting’ cameo hadn’t yet been revealed in leaks, adding that it was ‘an actor that I have longed to work with all of my life’.

But in the end, despite the cameo fuelling speculation of an appearance from Marvel villain Mephisto, it turned out to be none other… than Paul, as White Vision.

Could this be yet another prank… or could this ‘special’ person be a cameo worthy of Luke Skywalker in the season two finale of The Mandalorian?

During his interview with Jimmy, Ewan said it felt ‘great’ to be back in costume as Obi-Wan.

‘The costume is probably slightly different than you might expect, but to go back into the role, shall we say, is great,’ he explained.

‘It’s all still there, it feels good. It’s great scripts and great people to work with and it’s great, I’m having a great time.’

A release date for Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney Plus is yet to be announced.
