Garcia shocked the boxing world when he pulled out of his bout against Javier Fortuna. However, ‘King Ry’, who promised to come back stronger, has now reassured fans about a potential comeback to the sport. Furthermore, he also detailed his struggles with his illness.

The 21-0 boxer took to his Instagram and shared a video of him destroying the spring bag, which confirmed that ‘King Ry’ was back in training.

Garcia then captioned the post with, “Thank you to everyone showing there support! With the help of my support team and my family, I’m making steps forward. Why anxiety and depression hit me like a truck and why I’m still recovering I’ll never know. But I’m trying to cope with the issues I’m having! This bag is my anxiety and I’m swinging with my full intent to destroy it!!”

Who could Ryan Garcia face next?

These comments from Garcia showed his reality of struggling with anxiety and depression. Moreover, it confirmed that the young superstar is still dealing with those issues. However, he reassured fans he would fight it. So who could he face on his return?

The lightweight division is one of the most exciting in the sport. However, all the big names already have opponents. Therefore, Garcia will have to settle for a low-profile opponent if he wants to return soon.

A fight against his original opponent Javier Fortuna could be on the cards. Fortuna confirmed he would welcome a bout against Garcia in the future, whereas for ‘King Ry,’ it would allow him to build up towards the big fights later in the year.
