‘I Never Take Time Off’- Michael Chandler Says He Has Become a Total Fight Machine

Former Bellator MMA Lightweight champion and current UFC sensation, Michael Chandler, has had a long career as a professional fighter. He has achieved many glorious moments in the cage, and he is one step away from adding another feather to his cap.

He is gearing up to face Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira for the vacant UFC lightweight title at UFC 262. This will be his second UFC bout after he dismantled Dan Hooker in his promotional debut at UFC 257.

Recently, ‘Iron’ appeared for an interview where he detailed his fighting mentality and the reason for not taking time off.  He said,“I think the biggest thing is I never take time off. I think a lot of people think that you need time off, you need rest for recovery. When I say time off, I don’t mean I’m sparring 365 days a year, I’m not taking damage.”

He further added, “I’m not putting myself in those fight scenarios in the gym. But when it comes to strength and conditioning, when it comes to cardio, when it comes to mobility, I have a massage therapist and a bodyworker every single week that works on me.”

Chandler also revealed that he loves his wife and son more than anything else, even more than mixed martial arts. He reasoned that mixed martial arts is the mode by which he can provide everything to them, which can also help him make the biggest impact. “So I don’t take a lot off between training camps (and) I’m always in shape,” he said.

Michael Chandler vs Charles Oliveira- Recent performances

‘Iron’ Chandler was the biggest name outside UFC before he made his debut for the promotion. Prior to joining, he was riding on a two-match win streak at Bellator MMA. He registered KO wins over Benson Henderson and Sidney Outlaw, both inside the first round. He extended it to three wins in January.

Meanwhile, ‘Do Bronx‘, who is on an eight-fight win streak, will enter his first lightweight championship match. In retrospect, he earned the opportunity with his decimation of Tony Ferguson at UFC 256.

Looking at their profiles, it’s a straight contest between clean striker vs majestic grappler. Hence, the match surely will be a spectacular watch for the audience. Can Oliveira overcome the man who claims he never takes a break?
