Venus and Serena Williams Announce Positive News Following Italian Open 2021 Disappointment

There is some really positive news coming for the tennis fans. Both Venus and Serena Williams will be playing at the WTA 250 Emilia-Romagna Open 2021 that will take place in Parma, Italy next week. The two sisters haven’t had a great clay-court season so far and thus, will look to improve their gameplay in Parma ahead of the French Open 2021.

Serena Williams began her clay-court campaign at the Italian Open 2021. Surprisingly, she lost to Nadia Podoroska in the first round of the Masters 1000 tournament. It was her 1000th career game and unfortunately, Williams suffered a humiliating defeat in that match.

On the other hand, Venus Williams’ name was there in the main draw of the Italian Open 2021. She had to face World No.9 Karolina Pliskova in the first round of the tournament but she withdrew at the last moment. As a result, a lucky loser got the chance to compete against Pliskova. So far, Venus played only one clay-court tournament at the Mutua Madrid Open 2021 where her fellow counterpart Jennifer Brady thrashed her in straight sets in the first round itself.

As a result, both of them will look forward to gaining some momentum on clay ahead of the French Open 2021. The Emilia-Romagna Open 2021 can prove to be a golden opportunity for them to regain their form.

Who are the other WTA players playing at the Emilia-Romagna Open 2021 other than Venus and Serena Williams?

Other than Venus and Serena Williams, there are a number of WTA tennis stars who will also be playing at the Emilia-Romagna Open 2021. The list includes the likes of Sloane Stephens, Amanda Anisimova, Madison Keys, Camila Giorgi, and the rising star Coco Gauff.

The tournament will be a clay-court event that will begin on May 15, 2021, and will extend till May 22, 2021. It’ll be the first edition of the tournament and thus, fans are quite excited about it.

The tournament can prove to be a big bonus for the players ahead of the French Open 2021. Who will emerge as the winner of the tournament?
