Why Did Logan Paul, Conor McGregor, 50 Cent, and Others Doubt Floyd Mayweather’s Ability to Read?

Floyd Mayweather is unquestionably one of the biggest stars to ever grace the boxing ring. None of Mayweather’s opponents could decode his style of fighting and approach to the game. But often we’ve seen his rivals and fellow combatants taking a dig at ‘Pretty Boy’ for his reading disabilities. How and when did all of this actually begin?

This entire story regarding Mayweather’s reading problems gained credence in 2014. Mayweather’s rival, 50 Cent, once challenged the boxing great to read a page from a Harry Potter book. 50 Cent even assured that if Mayweather does so, he’ll donate a whopping $7,50,000 to the charity.

But in return, ‘TBE’ issued a fiery response to pipe down his rival. He showed 50 Cent how rich he is by tweeting pictures of two paychecks that were cumulatively worth $72,276,000.00.

Post this incident, Mayweather was involved in a press conference wherein he was asked this question pertaining to reading. Mayweather then reverted and said reading doesn’t pay the bills, at least in his world.

Since then, a string of rivals and opponents took notes of the same and mocked ‘TBE’ over his reading abilities.

In fact in 2017, in a world tour for the Conor McGregor fight, Mayweather got insulted by the Irishman. The ‘Notorious’ said, ”Carrying a school bag on stage. Why you doing a school bag on stage? You can’t even read!”

Even in a recent press conference, Logan Paul hit wild verbal jabs on Mayweather and interrupted him while he was speaking. Paul said, “Are you reading from a teleprompter? Oh, you can’t read.”
