Zack Snyder has shared his thoughts on the upcoming Superman reboot that will star a Black actor in the lead, and he’s all here for it.

It’s been confirmed that JJ Abrams is working on the next installment of the DCEU superhero movie and will likely cast an African-American actor to replace Henry Cavill, who was the most recent Superman.

When asked about the new direction of the franchise, Justice League director Snyder told Radio Times and other publications: ‘My feeling is that I love JJ [Abrams], I love what he’s done in the past.

‘I’m interested to see what happens, it’s a bold and cool and probably long overdue move.’

Staying loyal to his favourite, he added: ‘But I love Henry [Cavill] as Superman, of course I do. He’s my Superman.

‘I’m not really involved in any of the decision-making at Warner Brothers in any way, so I guess for me it’s just waiting and see what they do with this and how it manifests itself. But on the surface, it seems interesting.’

Snyder was promoting his anticipated Netflix zombie movie, Army of the Dead, which hits the streaming service later this month.

The next Superman blockbuster has been shrouded in mystery with Michael B Jordan hotly-tipped to takeover as the Man of Steel.

It was previously said that the Black Panther star had met with Warner Bros. but he recently brushed off the rumours.

Speaking to Jake’s Takes, Michael admitted that the rumours were a ‘compliment’, adding: ‘I appreciate people that think about me in that type of way for these roles. I don’t really have anything more to kind of give on that, other than it’s just flattering and I appreciate it.’

He then added coyly: ‘Whoever they get, or if it goes that way, I think it’ll be an interesting thing to see.’

Abrams is set to produce the next Superman movie while journalist Ta-Nehisi Coates will write the script, which is expected to focus on the African-American community.
