AEW Suffers a Setback After the Disappointing Blood and Guts Match

AEW presented the aftermath of Blood and Guts this week on Dynamite. The show featured a stacked card with three huge title matches as Jon Moxley, The Young Bucks and Darby Allin defended their respective titles! Despite all this, this week’s AEW Dynamite did significantly less viewers than previous week.

AEW Dynamite viewership drops below a million

All Elite Wrestling made history last week as they presented their first-ever Blood and Guts Match. All in all, it was a fun match and show, but a lot of production errors and commercials brought down its grandeur. However, the show still managed to top the key demos and saw an average viewership of 1.09M viewers!

Everyone expected Dynamite to draw the same average viewers or even more after Blood and Guts last week. Sadly, that wasn’t to be. Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed AEW Dynamite averaged 936,000 viewers and saw a 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demo. This is down from last week’s 0.42 rating that made the No. 1 on cable in the said demo.

AEW Dynamite does not have competition from WWE NXT anymore. The first episode of Dynamite, following NXT’s move to Tuesday, saw it’s second best viewership numbers since it’s debut on TNT. The show did 1.219M viewers. Dynamite kept up being in the million for another week, but went under 900K viewers on the Dynamite prior to Blood and Guts.

Luckily, the hype for Blood and Guts brought in huge numbers for AEW and the show crossed a million viewers again. However, the botches and amateur production of the show sent a bad message to the fans as the show dropped under a million viewers. Not just viewers, but also in key demos.

AEW Dynamite is a terrific wrestling show, and has given fans some terrific moments in the short history. There is no doubt Dynamite creative gives it their all to write a compelling weekly wrestling show. However, what they lack at is seamless execution. If they get that right, Dynamite could do a million viewers consistently!
