Nicki Minaj has revealed three new songs to celebrate the re-release of her 2009 mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty, including a collaboration with Drake.

The rapper, 38, revealed the new music during an appearance on Instagram Live on Friday, announcing that the mixtape would be released on streaming services to celebrate its 12th anniversary.

Nicki announced that the mixtape would include new songs including Seeing Green featuring Drake and Lil Way, Fractions and Crocodile Teeth, which is a remix of the dancehall track by Jamaican singer Skillibeng.

She told her followers: ‘This is the 12-year anniversary of the Beam Me Up Scotty mixtape. Because this is the 12-year anniversary, we thought we would do something special.

‘I have never ever in life put my mixtapes on streaming services, so what we’re doing tonight is we are putting Beam Me Up Scotty for the first time ever on streaming services.

‘There might be two or three songs that didn’t make the cut for whatever reason, but for the most part the whole tape is going to be on streaming services now for you guys.’

Nicki revealed that her favourite songs from the mixtape were Envy, Best I Ever Had, Go Hard, Itty Bitty Piggy and Slumber Party, which she has been replaying lately.

She added: ‘Having said that, because I knew if I just re-released a mixtape without putting out anything new, I knew y’all would cuss me the f**k out. So what.I did was, I did a couple of new joints for the mixtape.’

Nicki revealed that she wanted to return to her roots as a rapper, adding: ‘This is just to get back to the basics a little bit, to the essence of why I started rapping. I started rapping because I love listening to people that spit… I love punchlines, that was always my favourite thing.’

Beam Me Up Scotty can be streamed now on Spotify and Apple Music.
