WATCH: How Kobe Bryant Delivered a Heartwarming Message to Lakers Trainer After His Father Passed Away

Kobe Bryant was an integral part of the Los Angeles Lakers organization. Bryant was a Laker for life, playing all 20 years of his career with the purple and gold. For many fans, Kobe is the greatest Laker of all time. During his career, he brought great success to the team, winning five NBA championships in 11 years. But it was the relationships he had with everyone in the organization that made him one of the most beloved figures in their history.

Kobe Bryant sent well wishes to the trainer

On the eve of his induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, fans got to listen to a voicemail Kobe Bryant sent to a Lakers trainer. Gary Vitti, who had been with the Lakers for several years, lost his father in 2019. Kobe sent him a kind voicemail telling him how much he appreciated him and his father. Bryant showed some love to Vitti by telling him that he would give him a hug if he could.

Kobe had said, “GV, it’s Kobe. Just heard about your loss, brother. Man, I’m so sorry. Just wanted to call and reach out to you man, see how you doing, how mom was doing, how the family is doing, the girls are doing. Just wish I could give you a hug more than anything. Your pop always such big life.”

Bryant was kind enough to reach out

Bryant shared some memories with Vitti about his father, and how much he appreciated both of them. He even shared some stories he had of seeing Vitti’s father at games across the country. Bryant told Vitti that he was there for him. It was a truly kind gesture from one of the biggest names in the history of the franchise.

Kobe had said, “And I remember coming down to New York, he’d always have a big smile on his face and give me the biggest hug and speak Italian for a few minutes. And just full of life, full of energy, which is where you get that soul from yourself, man. Just wanted to tell you how sorry I am and I love you and a big hug to the family, man. I’m home so hopefully, we can get together soon, man… Love you GV.”

An undisputed legend, Kobe Bryant will get inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame this weekend.
