Jordan Spieth is back! It was reported the Spieth had contracted COVID-19 after the 2021 Masters tournament, but he’s healthy and is now putting on a show at AT&T Byron Nelson. The Dallas native concluded a terrific Round 1 performance with an eagle on the par-5 18th. 

Spieth entered Round 1 with high expectations on his shoulders. The three-time major winner did not disappoint the fans and put on an all-round show at TPC Craig Ranch. The highlight of his low-scoring round was the precise eagle at the 552yds par-5 18th hole. 

Jordan Spieth closed out Round 1 with a 55-foot eagle

Spieth is a tremendous putter, but he hadn’t found luck from long distances this season. Prior to the AT&T Byron Nelson, the longest putt Spieth had made was from 43 feet at ‘The CJ Cup.’ However, he bettered it by draining a 55-footer at the AT&T Byron Nelson on Thursday. 

Spieth enjoyed a bogey-free round at TPC Craig Ranch and capped off an excellent performance with an eagle. Everything went right for Spieth at AT&T Byron Nelson on Thursday. 

A wonderful tee-shot on the 18th placed the ball on the fairway, 281 yards away from the hole. Jordan Spieth then struck a sweet iron shot for his second, which ended up 55-feet away from the flagstick. That’s when he took out his putter and tapped the ball for a wonderful eagle. 

It was a terrific shot in all aspects. It was an uphill putt which made it even more challenging. However, Jordan Spieth did not make any mistakes with Scotty Cameron Circle T 009 putter and made an incredible read to clinch the eagle on the 18th. 

Spieth battled the nerves to make leaderboard surge

Jordan Spieth looked incredibly calm when he approached his first tee shot of the day. It was his first start since the Masters tournament in April, but the 27-year-old did not display any signs of nerves at all, as he birdied the par-4 first. 

However, Spieth later revealed that he played through the nerves and shot a low round. Spieth made one eagle, seven birdies, and 10 pars en route to his 9-under 63. 

“Really started on No. 1. I had nerves on No. 1 like it’s the first shot of the season. I didn’t practice for three weeks straight and then — which is very unusual,” Spieth told the reporters. 

Spieth wonderfully disguised his nerves at TPC Craig Ranch. He seemed incredibly calm during Round 1 and has now set himself up for a good tournament for the rest of the week. Do you think Jordan Spieth can win AT&T Byron Nelson?
