Where Is the AT&T Byron Nelson Played? Get to Know Everything About TPC Craig Ranch

The PGA Tour has stopped at McKinney, Texas, for the next phase of its schedule. The AT&T Byron Nelson is back on the calendar after being canceled in 2020 and is now being hosted at a new venue. So what all do we know about TPC Craig Ranch, the golf course which is currently hosting the Byron Nelson tournament?

TPC Craig Ranch has never hosted a PGA Tour event before. But it will host the AT&T Byron Nelson for the next five years as part of the new deal. The tournament has found a new home, and Craig Ranch can also boast about hosting one of the most popular events on the tour!

Origin of the course

TPC Craig Ranch without a doubt is one of the best golf courses in Texas. It opened in 2004 and has received multiple accolades since. The golf course is located at 8000 Collin McKinney Parkway, McKinney, TX 75070 and was designed by former tour pro and renowned architect Tom Weiskopf.

Tom Weiskopf designed the layout amid the stunning natural view in McKinney, Texas, and the golf course spans 233 acres. TPC Craig Ranch also has an exquisite clubhouse, a driving range, along with an extensive practice facility.

TPC Craig Ranch will host a PGA Tour event (AT&T Byron Nelson) for the first time in 2021. While it has hosted Korn Ferry Tour events in the past, this is a major breakthrough for the golf course in terms of gaining popularity.

AT&T Byron Nelson: TPC Craig Ranch details

TPC Craig Ranch offers a breathtaking view to the fans and the golfers themselves. People often enjoy playing at the golf course owing to its “Bentgrass” greens and elongated fairways.

The par-72, 7,468-yard golf course demands accuracy from the golfers as the bunkers and water hazards come into play in the layout. Texas is never short of windy conditions, and TPC Craig Ranch poses a major challenge in that regard.

The fairways are Zoysia grass, and it would seem a bit dried up in the mornings and afternoons. However, the balls still receive proper bounce and carry, provided that the tee shots are hit with a good amount of power.
