Blazers’ Damian Lillard Ties with LeBron James for a Unique Record Owned By Lakers’ Kobe Bryant

Just like the Lakers’ LeBron James, Damian Lillard is the epitome of consistency, and his nine years in the league are ample proof. He began his NBA career with three back-to-back 82-game regular seasons, something that’s extremely rare. Then he remained a starter, never switched sides, and forever kept himself away from major injuries.

This steadiness has bestowed him with several individual accolades. Be it his three-point shooting numbers or those multiple 50-point games, the star has been a regular at breaking records. So which of his latest records is making rounds on the internet?

Damian Lillard matches Lakers’ LeBron James

In the 117-118 loss against the Suns, the Blazers lost their win streak and also became vulnerable to losing their sixth seed. However, that was mostly their game to win, given the 41-point night from Damian Lillard. The ‘Big Game Dame’ had just 17 points by the end of Q3 but that was when he switched on the beast mode. The star point guard scored 60% of the Blazers’ 40 in the decisive quarter and launched another record to his name.

He matched LeBron James’ eight such games where they scored 20+ points in Q4. Only Kobe Bryant, with his 11, is ahead of the two now.

The ‘Black Mamba’ is world famous for being one of the greatest clutch players ever. Almost similarly, it is the Logo Lillard who never shies away from taking those game-winning shots. Hence, the chances are strong that Dame can break Kobe’s record in the coming years.

The Blazers are in a tough situation

That loss against the Suns, with Devin Booker’s FTs and CJ McCollum’s buzzer-beater miss, cost heavily to the Blazers. Now, they’re sitting just 0.5 games ahead of the Lakers who are desperately trying to enter the Top Six. While the Lakers have comparatively easier next two games against the Pacers and the Pelicans, the Blazers are to face the dangerous Nuggets. So the Blazers would want to deal with their next game as a knockout game or else they’ll have to face a tough play-in opponent in the Warriors/Grizzlies.

Logo Lillard is averaging 28.9 points this season with CJ McCollum adding another 23.1 to give them a 42-point edge in every game. The bench leader in veteran Carmelo Anthony is also contributing towards an efficient 24.5 minutes per game. But still, the Blazers’ bench remains a point of concern for coach Terry Stotts.

Do you still see Dame pulling the same heroics as he did in the Bubble last year to lift his team to the postseason? Help us know in the comments.
