Roger Federer on being the Ambassador of Switzerland Tourism

Over the past two decades, Roger Federer has been the face of tennis for his admirable on and off-court personality. For the same reason, he has a vast following in his home country.

But while the 20-time Grand Slam champion called it unrealistic, he also tends to enjoy it. “Sometimes it’s a bit exaggerated at the same time it’s pretty cool,” Federer said. (All quotes are translated from French to English via Google Translate).

Furthermore, the tennis maestro expressed that it is the high regard more than any admiration that wins his heart. Henceforth, he puts his time and effort into paying back the same to his people.

“It’s very nice because I find that I am extremely respected by the Swiss people,” Federer admitted. “This is why I am happy to give back to Switzerland as much as possible now in my role as Ambassador of Switzerland Tourism.”

At 39, Roger has big plans as a professional tennis player and a citizen of Switzerland and the world. Besides that, he also has high hopes for his acting skills in the recent Tourism ad.

Federer to play on home soil at Geneva Open 2021

Due to two knee surgeries, Federer did not play in 2020 after the Australian Open. After 13 months of wait, he returned to the Qatar Open 2021 and played two matches.

However, the Swiss maestro felt he needed more training and withdrew from all corresponding tournaments. He is now ready to play his first clay-court tournament at the ATP 250 Geneva Open.

Chasing his maiden title in Geneva, Federer must endure a test of a strong players’ field. He will start his campaign against either Jordon Thompson or Pablo Andujar in the second round.

Hopefully, Federer is here to stay, and fans would see him through the entirety of the 2021 season. Are you excited to see Federer back on clay?
