Mass Effect Legendary Edition Has an Easter Egg About the Iconic Calibration Joke From the Series
Fans received the shock of a lifetime last year when BioWare announced Mass Effect Legendary Edition on N7 Day. The N7 Day, which is the date chosen for the annual celebration of the popular franchise, was the perfect time to unveil a remastered version that fans had been desperately craving for. The game released yesterday on all platforms, and players are loving the crisp 4K 60FPS experience of the iconic trilogy.
The Legendary Edition brings back a lot of nostalgia for fans wh0 have played the series ever since it started in 2007. Players have a ton of campaign storyline to go through as Commander Shephard, who is trying to save the galaxy. But eagle-eyed fans have noticed a cool Easter Egg and players can notice it, before the game even starts.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition has a Calibration Easter Egg
In Mass Effect Legendary Edition, fans can spot a separate Calibrations tab in the Options menu of the game. If players select it, they can tweak their display settings for the title. But, fans of the iconic franchise know that the developers at Bungie deliberately renamed the Display Settings option. This Easter Egg is a clear nod to a long-running joke in the series about one of its characters named Garruss Vakarian.
Garruss Vakarian loves calibrating his weapon
Garuss Vakarian is a Turian, a species which looks like a cool variant of a space lizard. In the trilogy, he is one of Commander Shephard’s allies and his friendship with him is the stuff of legends. In the first two games of the series, fans can often see him talk about calibrating weapons while conversing with him. The quote became so popular that it eventually became a meme in the community. Along with that, Bungie even referenced this quote in Mass Effect 3, when Garuss mentioned that he uses this phrase way too often.
“I’ve been told, I say ‘calibrations’ more than a Turian should.”
It’s unclear what kind of calibration Garuss has been attempting all these years. A tiny reference from the developer showcases the love they have for the franchise and its fans. As players make more progress in the campaign, fans can expect to see more cool Easter Egg in the game.
