The summer is right around the corner, and that can only mean one thing – a new series of Love Island is nearly here.

After the disappointment of having last year’s series cancelled due to the pandemic, ITV has confirmed that the show is definitely happening in 2021.

Managing Director of Media and Entertainment Kevin Lygo said: ‘There’s so much to look forward to on ITV this spring and into summer, with the Euros and the return of Love Island, but much more besides.’

Safe to say, we’re all very excited about the whole thing.

As well as a whole host of new stars, there’ll be some familiar faces along for the ride. Laura Whitmore has been spotted filming promo for the upcoming series, while husband Iain Stirling also along for the ride once more as narrator.

But when is it returning? Here’s everything we know so far.

While ITV have confirmed the show is definitely back this year, the broadcaster has yet to announce an exact release date.

But we do have a general idea of when new episodes will be on our screens, with the programme set to premiere in late June and continue throughout July and August.

It’s thought the crew will travel to their destination on June 20, with filming expected to begin a week later.

A source told the MailOnline: ‘Crew members are scheduled to fly out to Majorca on June 20 – with the series expected to launch a week later. The delayed launch date will not have an impact on the length of the series, with the show still running for a duration of eight weeks.’

It’s believed the show is set to take place in Mallorca this year, meaning the new stars of Love Island will be enjoying some time in the sun.

However, ITV is also said to have a back-up villa arranged in Jersey in case filming on the island isn’t possible due to the pandemic.

New photographs captured of the Love Island villa in Mallorca recently showed the property in need of a thorough spring clean ahead of the new episodes.

The contestants will allegedly be flown out and placed in quarantine, with each one given their own chaperone to make sure that they don’t mix with the other stars.

Love Island is available to watch on ITV Hub.
