WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2021: Full Match Card, Start Time, How to Watch

WWE Backlash is right in front of the fans this weekend. Billed as a ‘WrestleMania Backlash’ pay-per-view, almost all the champions are putting their titles on the line.

Apart from WWE RAW Tag Team Championship, Women’s Tag Team Championship, the United States and Intercontinental championship, every champ would face their opponent. Let’s take a look at the present match card –

#1 Bobby Lashley (C) vs Drew McIntyre vs Braun Strowman – WWE Championship match

This would be Bobby Lashley‘s biggest championship defense yet, Drew McIntyre would get a second chance at the title following his loss at WrestleMania 37.

On the other hand, this title shot has been a long time coming for Strowman. He demanded a title match for a long time, and he finally earned it after defeating McIntyre on RAW.

#2 Roman Reigns (C) vs Cesaro – Universal Championship Match

Some argue this is the biggest match of the night. The match is the first world title match in Cesaro’s WWE career. Although Reigns recently argued how no one wanted Cesaro to be the Champion, it is not true.

Cesaro is considered one of the best in-ring performers in WWE right now. He recently enjoyed a victory over Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 37. On the go-home edition of SmackDown, Cesaro attacked Jey, Jimmy Uso, and Roman Reigns to send a message.

#3 Rhea Ripley (C) vs Charlotte Flair vs Asuka – WWE RAW Women’s Title

On the night following WrestleMania, Charlotte returned to WWE and demanded respect. Deeming herself as “the opportunity,” Flair revealed how she was robbed off of her WrestleMania moment due to covid-19.

Anyway, after weeks f negotiating, WWE official Sonya Deville finally granted Flair’s wish. But she also made it a triple threat match so that everyone would have a fair chance against Rhea.

#4 Bianca Belair (C) vs Bayley – SmackDown Women’s title

Another interesting match fromSmackDown where the ‘EST of WWE’ would have her first PPV title defense against former champion Bayley. The latter suddenly attacked Belair out of nowhere after the match announcement.

On the go-home edition of SmackDown, Bayley revealed how Bianca reminded her of her old cheerful gimmick. But Bayley cowed to teach Bianca a lesson on Sunday.

#5 The Dirty Dawgs (Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode) (c) vs. Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio – SmackDown Tag Team Title

The Mysterio duo might make history with this match. They are the first father-son duo to compete in the ring and for a title. While the Dirty Dawgs have enjoyed a remarkable title run till now, history could be made at WrestleMania Backlash.

On SmakcDown, Dominik scored two back-to-back victories on Ziggler to prove his worth. The Mysterio duo might even become the first father-son Tag Team champions in WWE history.

#6 The Miz vs Damian Priest

The only singles match of the event features the “Must-see superstar” and the “Archer of Infamy.” unlike many matches in the card, this match is a rematch of their WrestleMania match.

Although John Morrison would be by Miz’s side, Bad Bunny won’t be there. It would be interesting to see how Bunny does in this PPV without any assistance. For his advantage, the match would be a lumberjack match per Priest’s suggestion on RAW.

Start time, date, and location

Apart from the matches, let’s discuss the technicalities. The event would take place on Sunday, May 16, 2021. It would be WWE’s first pay-per-view to present the ThunderDome from the Yuengling Center, Florida.

Unlike WM 37, there would be no live audience this time. WrestleMania Backlash will begin at 7 p.m. ET, and kickoff shows one hour before the main card at 6 p.m.

The action will stream live on Peacock for both the kickoff show and main card in America. Other countries can watch the live coverage on WWE Network.
